Therapy Modalities

Each of us is the sum of our experiences in life. The secret is discovering how those experiences interrelate. I offer the following treatment modalities below.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life. In many studies, CBT has been demonstrated to be as effective as, or more effective than, other forms of psychological therapy or psychiatric medications" (American Psychology Association, 2017).

Ecotherapy

Ecotherapists help people feel less alone and more supported by linking their personal pain and healing with the larger healing of the earth. They weave people’s hearts, bodies and spirits back into the interconnected web of life with the leaves and the trees.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

“Dialectical” means combining opposite ideas. DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviors" (Cleveland Clinic, 2022).

EMDR

"Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy (Shapiro, 2001) was initially developed in 1987 for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and is guided by the Adaptive Information Processing model (Shapiro 2007). EMDR is an 8 phase model for individual therapy typically delivered one to two times per week" (American Psychology Association, 2017).

"EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory, and is intended to change the way that the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing and eliminating the problematic symptoms"(American Psychology Association, 2017).
